Work permits, hiring and volunteering in Ukraine

5 guides · Updated

A foreigner works in Ukraine on a permit that the employer obtains from the regional employment centre before the job starts. The centre decides within seven working days, and in 2026 the fee runs from UAH 9,984 to UAH 33,280 depending on the term. Permanent residents, refugees, people under temporary protection and several other groups listed in Article 42(6) of Law No. 5067-VI work without a permit.

The guides below split the subject by who is asking. Employers hiring a foreign national start with the employer's procedure. Companies abroad that want Ukrainian engineers start with the hiring models. Foreigners looking for a job, checking an offer or coming to volunteer start with the worker's side. Every guide names the law and article behind each figure and the date we last checked it.
